ZooBC Explained: How Proof of Participation Consensus Algorithm in ZooBC Works

Proof of Participation is a consensus algorithm, which proves a nodes right to create blocks, and receive rewards based on their participation. In this video, our co-founder and CTO, Barton Johnston, explains to you:
- How the nodes get chosen?
- How to measure a node's participation in the network?
- How does the receipt system calculate a node's chances of creating the next block?

Community Q&A: Proof of Participation

Proof of Participation algorithm is used to reward the nodes participating in a network.

In this video, we answer:
- What is Proof of Participation in simple words?
- Is Proof of Participation going to adopt any coins?
- Do you buy 'capacity' for Proof of Participation?

The Zoolanders: Proof of Participation VS. Other Consensus Algorithms

Proof of Participation allows us to maintain a node registry, which gives us the power to keep the block time regular, and divide the rewards among all people in the network.

In this video, we answer:
- What makes Proof of Participation stand out from other consensus algorithms?
- How we prove the node?
- What is the difference between Proof of Participation and Proof of Stake?

Proof of Authority vs. Proof of Participation

Proof of Authority consensus uses a federation of nodes which are each authorized by a central authority to participate. Proof of Participation keeps the strengths of a federated model, but decentralizes the authorization process so that it is not under the control of any one authority. In this video, our Co-founder and CTO, Barton Johnston, explains to you the following:

- What are the key limitations of Proof of Authority and how does Proof of Participation address them?
- What measures have been taken when designing Proof of Participation to ensure complete decentralization?
- What makes Proof of Participation more suitable for non-financial use cases than Proof of Authority?

Proof of Stake vs. Proof of Participation

In this video, we show how ZooBC has reworked the ideas of Proof of Stake from the ground up to reduce dependence on the token's value for security and stabilize the blockchain against fast changes in token distribution. In this video, our Founder and CEO, Roberto Capodieci, explains to you the following:

- What are the key limitations of Proof of Stake and how does Proof of Participation address them?
- What measures have been taken when designing Proof of Participation to ensure complete decentralization?
- What makes Proof of Participation more suitable for non-financial use cases than Proof of Stake?

Proof of Work vs. Proof of Participation

ZooBC's Proof of Participation consensus was designed to overcome problems in other consensus algorithms like Proof of Work. In this video, our Co-founder and CTO, Barton Johnston, explains to you the following:

- What are the key limitations of Proof of Work and how does Proof of Participation address them?
- What measures have been taken when designing Proof of Participation to ensure complete decentralization?

ZooBC Explained: How Node Registration and Participation in ZooBC Work

In order to participate in ZooBC blockchain, there are 4 basic rules which need to be followed:
1. Anyone holding some tokens can register a node.
2. The rate at which nodes can be registered is limited.
3. Some tokens must be locked by the user in order to register a node.
4. A user's account can register only one node.

This mechanism works tightly together with the Proof of Participation consensus algorithm, to secure the network for all participants, and create competition between users to remain in the registry.

What should you do to participate in ZooBC?
- Install the node on a server with a public IP address
- Run the node to download the blockchain.
- Acquire some ZooBC tokens.
- Register your node by using the wallet app.

Community Q&A: Node Registration

To earn new tokens in ZooBC, a node must be actively participating in the network. Our developers answer your questions about how to maximize your node's participation score and rewards.

In this video, we answer:
- What can a node runner do to make sure he always stays in the node registry and gains rewards?
- What tips could you give to people who intend to run the ZooBC nodes?
